How much you love to draw? I believe that each
of us goes through the frustration when we were kids just to be able to draw or
paint nicely. Thank goodness I had my drafting class when I was in high school
and there I was able to enhance more my drawing skills.

The very first time I had my travel to Jeju
Island, Korea, I'm really impressed by my discovery of the Painter's Hero Show.
I got to learned how amazing they are in the innovation of simple concept into
a world-class performance. This is one of a kind art in the heart of Jeju
Island. As a normal spectator, my expectation of a theater shows normally come
in acting, singing, and dancing. Well, starting here on it's different - as I
looked now into its unique features.

The Jeju Theater has the capacity of 492 seats. You can watch this show every 5:00 PM from Tuesday to Sunday. |
If you will plan to travel in Jeju Island of
South Korea and you are into art (or actually even not) and unique theater
performance I strongly recommend not to miss the Painters Hero Show. What
is it by the way? For the information of all the Painters Hero Show is a
non-verbal comedy theater performance acted by four (4) talented
actors/painters. They perform the art of drawing and painting while in harmony with
the music, act, and dance. Since this is a non-verbal show, you don't need to
know how to speak or understand the Korean language as the message is clearly
delivered and understood by the audience via a sign and body language.

As I remember the show performed different art
technics such as Marbling (a method that floats color pigment
into the water and eventually transformed the color patterns paper or to an
absorbent surface), Scratching (a method where colors and
patterns hidden beneath are dark ink coat is revealed through
scratching), Dust Drawing (a method using loose dust to create
an art), Spray Painting (a method that uses spraying of paint
into a non-porus surface), Painting (a method of
creating art by the use of paint), Charcoal & Graphite painting (creation
of artwork using charcoal or graphite), and light painting (it
is a method of creating an art using light directly).
The show's unique feature is the perfect blend
of the innovation of art into a theater show. At the end of the show, you will
definitely start to appreciating and see a work of art as interesting pieces
that do exist. The show duration takes 45 minutes. However, it normally ends
longer (an hour or so) because of the participation and reaction of the
spectators. The guide normally notes that 'the longer the time they performed,
the more the audience were satisfied'. Well, I agree to it because for my 4
times watching the show (2016, 2017, and 2019 in Jeju; 2018 a special
performance at Taiwan International Travel Fair), I still have the same
enthusiasm as what I experienced during the very first time, I watched them
live in Jeju.
It is indeed an art in the city.
